Jane Austen Ball - Idaho Falls Public Library - Oct 2017

Proudly announcing my first public ball

Here are the pictures from the Ball! We had 96 people attend this ball and I am so sad we did get a group picture with everyone. It was the lively, fun loving group and we had a splendid evening together. A special thanks to the library for bringing us together and making dreams come true!

We had our first week of practice and it was amazing!

We had enough to break off into 6 dancing groups and learned 2 dances!

I loved the variety we had, we had Teenagers, Young Couples, Singles, Families with their older kids,  Couples who have been together for years and are still deeply in love. We had couples who had extensive dance experience and people who have never danced before and didn't know if they wanted to dance. Everyone did amazing, every single person! It was such a fun night and we are so excited for the Ball we hope you want to join us.

DON'T WORRY IF YOU MISSED WEEK ONE
we will start our class on week 2 by learning new dances for the first hour, for those who want to stay a second hour we will be reviewing week 1's dances

WEEK 1

The first song we learned is CORN RIGS
I picked this one because it is the easiest dance and it is fun and lively
We did it most like the 1st and 3rd video but I thought the second video was an interesting variation

more information on this dance can be found here

The second dance we did is a more proper and elegant dance
It is one of my favorites RAMSGATE ASSEMBLY
I have a playlist below that shows different variations the first one is the variation we learned but I thought it was fun to see other variations

More information on this dance can be found here

WEEK 2

The first new dance will be a fan favorite it is the dance that was done in the BBC Pride and Prejudice also a production of Emma, it is the dance people think about when they think Jane Austen
It is called MR. BEVERIDGES MAGGOT and is a serious dance

More information on this dance can be found here

Then if we have time we will learn MADM BUONAPARTES WALTZ
Which isn't what we think of today when we think Waltz it isn't strictly coupled
and is a country line dance and quite a fun one

More information on this dance can be found here

WEEK 3

We will be reviewing and perfecting
MR. BEVERIDGES MAGGOT
and
RAMSGATE ASSEMBLY
to perform at the ball!

THE BALL we dance MR. BEVERIDGES MAGGOT, RAMSGATE ASSEMBLY, and CORN RIGS
Was a great success! We had 90 guest travel from all over to attend this magnificent event!
The Idaho Falls Library Facebook page took LIVE videos of the evening and I hope to post pictures of our event when I am able.

I want to thank everyone who came. I had the best of guests who made the evening fun and magical.

I want to thank Liza at the library for believing in me and my dream and making this event possible.

I would also like to thank Russ, Melissa, Lisha, LaDawn and the guy at the library who frequently helped me set up. You know who you are. Taryn for helping me instruct one night and sharing her knowledge.

Hope to see you all again!
